1. About WeHangHere

WeHangHere is a new type of social networking site.

We think the places you like to hang out describe you. Do you like to hang out at Roxy on Saturday night? or the Natural History Museum on a Sunday morning? Chances are, there's WeHangHere members similar to you who like doing just the same.

Search by venue, or by person. Share your favourite places and your favourite people, and tell each other a bit about yourselves. We like to think you'll have something in common.

Best of all, it's completely free.

2. How We Started

We think social networking is more fun in the real world. Sending messages is well and good, but wouldn't you rather be in your favourite bar, café, restaurant or museum, hanging with people just like you?

So would we. That's how WeHangHere began.

3. How It Works

If you have trouble using WeHangHere, we want to know about it.

Drop us a line and we'll get right back to you, with answers to your questions, hints and tips or that cupcake recipe your grandmother promised.

We're nice like that.

4. Privacy

We hate spam. We're sure you do too.

We'll never, ever give your details to a third party.

If it's OK by you, every now and then we'd like to drop you a line with big WeHangHere announcements. But you can opt out of these from the my account section of the website, if you'd like.

Remember that when you send a message to another member, the 'from' email address will be the email you used when you registered with us. You might prefer to use a personal email address rather than a work one. But that's up to you.

5. Safety

Safety is our number one concern. But unfortunately we can't be there to keep an eye on you, so you'll have to think a bit about it too.

We think most people are honest, trustworthy and generally great. But, unfortunately, there are a few who aren't, and you should take sensible precautions before meeting anyone new.

Here are the ones we can think of. Please let us know if you can think of any more.

  1. Always meet in a public place. Such as one of the WeHangHere venues. Never meet somewhere without lots of people around, and definitely not in your own home.
  2. Keep your address under wraps. Don't let anyone know where you live, until you're sure you want to continue with the relationship.
  3. Travel to the venue under your own steam. Or by public transport. It's best not to accept an offer of transport until you really get to know the person.
  4. Let your friends know where you're going. And when to expect you home.
  5. Trust your instincts and use your common sense. Don't meet again if you have any doubts.
