I just have to do a post on fun in the snow!
I know that not everyone gets much snow but for those that do, it can be so much fun. Tis the season for boots, mittens and sleds. I was reminded this weekend how much kids absolutely love the white cold stuff when my family ventured outside for a couple hours of good times. Here is a list of easy snow activities you can do with your tikes.
1) Create snow angles
2) Make a Snowman
3) Snow ball fight
4) Sledding
I listed the easiest ones to do first. Snow angles are a blast and the best thing is that anyone can make one. Showing a little one how to make a snow angle for the very first time is also a blast.
Making a snowman (or woman) can be a little more complex and it depends upon the type of snow you get. I know if lower humidity areas such as Colorado, the snow doesn’t tend to have enough moisture in ti for good packing. However, for many other locations the snow is perfect for packing. You can easily build a small snowman or go all out and build a HUGE one!
Snow ball fights can be a lot of fun as long as everyone keeps it fun and light. So I don’t recommend throwing snowballs at each others faces. That’s a recipe for a crying child.
An finally if you have a sled (or if you dont they are very cheap) and a hill, then sledding is a ton of fun. If you kids are really young then choose a really slight hill and put them on your lap. Less is more with toddlers. With older kids…well find a nice long hill that you can really get cruising on. Always be safe but have a bunch of fun!!
Now, stop reading this post, go get everyone bundled up and get some snow fun going.
